MoMA Curator, Alumnus to Speak at St. Lawrence
David Platzker ’87, curator for the Department of Drawing and Prints at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, will present a public lecture at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 14, in Griffiths Arts Center room 123. The event is free and open to the public.
Platzker was the founder and president of the project space Specific Object, a gallery, bookstore and think-tank dedicated to art that informed the 1960s and 1970s. From 1998 to 2004, he served as the executive director of the art organization Printed Matter. He also served as curator to sculptors Claes Oldenburg and Cossje van Bruggen, producing the catalogue raisonné “Claes Oldenburg: Multiples in Retrospect 1964-1990.”
His wife, Susan Inglett, owns the Susan Inglett Gallery in Chelsea. The couple lives in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan.
