'From King To Obama' Theme For Service At St. Lawrence

CANTON - A service with the theme "From King to Obama: Today's Meaning of the Movement" will be held at St. Lawrence University's Gunnison Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 19, at 5 p.m. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

It is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, as well as the first day of classes and the day before the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

On Thursday, February 5, a half-day teach-in will be held on campus, having the same theme. Guest speakers for the teach-in include sociologist Charles V. Willie, Emeritus Charles William Eliot Professor of Education at Harvard University, and his daughter, Sarah Willie-LeBreton, associate professor of sociology at Swarthmore College.
