Middle Eastern Music Comes to St. Lawrence March 25

The Kinan Azmeh’s CityBand will bring sounds of the Middle East to St. Lawrence University, when they perform live at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, at Launders Underground.

Formed in 2006 in New York City, Kinan Azmeh’s CityBand has gained recognition for their virtuosic and high-energy performances. With this New York ensemble, Azmeh strives to reach a balance between classical music, jazz, and the music of his homeland, Syria. His impressive résumé includes performances in Paris, London, Berlin, New York, Moscow, and Damascus, both as a soloist and composer.

Azmeh’s expressive clarinet meets Kyle Sanna’s rustic guitar, soaring at times over the dynamic and volatile backdrop of John Hadfield's percussion and Josh Myers’ double bass. Each band member has come from varied backgrounds to add their personal flair to this ensemble, resulting in a thoroughly exciting and rewarding listening experience.

Launders Underground is located in Nobel Center 001. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact 315-229-5184
