SLU APPOINTS VICE PRESIDENT FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

CANTON -- Russell B. Merrill, of Glen Cove, New York, has been named 
vice president for information technology at St. Lawrence University. 
The announcement of his appointment was made on campus January 4 by 
President Daniel F. Sullivan; Merrill begins his duties at St. Lawrence 
January 29.
	He has served as assistant vice president for information technology 
at Queens College of the City University of New York since 1998. Merrill is 
a graduate of the University of Kansas, with a master's degree and Ph.D. 
from the University of Chicago. A former research scientist and adjunct 
professor at Texas A & M University, Merrill has worked for some 20 years 
in the design, construction, operation and management of computer departments 
and projects that support research, library, educational and administrative 
services.
	Collen J. Knickerbocker,  professor of mathematics, has served as 
vice president for information technology at the University, and will return 
full-time to the faculty following a sabbatical.
