The Merling Trio to Perform Music at St. Lawrence
Recognized as one of today’s premier musical ensembles, the Merling Trio will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall, located in the Griffiths Arts Center at St. Lawrence University.
The trio consists of Renata Artman Knific, violin; Bruce Uchimura, cello; and Susan Wiersma Uchimura, piano, who bring together Polish, Japanese, and Dutch backgrounds and have performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Members of the Trio have performed with orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra, the Honolulu Symphony, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, and the South Carolina Philharmonic. Recent trio performances include concerts for the Lagerstrom Concerts Series at Caltech, the Texas Friends of Chamber Music Series, the Jewel Box Series in Chicago, the Charleston Chamber Music Society, Merkin Hall, and the Antioch College Professional Piano Series.
The concert will feature Brahms’ Selected Hungarian Dances, Haydn’s Gypsy Trio and Smetana’s Piano Trio, Op. 15.
