SCREENWRITER RICHARD MCBRIEN IN SLU WRITERS SERIES

CANTON - British screenwriter Richard McBrien will speak and 
read from his recent works at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, 
February 19, at 8 p.m. in Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center, 
as part of the St. Lawrence Writers Series. The event is open 
to the public, free of charge.
	McBrien has two feature film scripts currently in 
development, Nautica, a thriller picked up by Sony Pictures, 
and Trust (Warner Brothers), slated to star Catherine Zeta-Jones. 
In addition to film scripts, McBrien has written documentaries 
and serial and feature-length drama for British televsion.
	A native of the United Kingdom, McBrien attended 
graduate school at SUNY Buffalo and Yale University, where 
he began to write plays. His play Acid Test was the winner 
at the Brighton Festival in 1980 and Period won the Samuel 
French Off-Off-Broadway Festival. After a stay in China, 
McBrien returned to the U.K. and began his career a screenwriter. 
He is a regular member of the faculty of the St. Lawrence 
University program in London.
