CANTON-SLU MARATHON GROUP HOLDS LOGO CONTEST

CANTON - The organizers of the Third Annual Canton-St. Lawrence University Race Weekend, to be held May 6, 2006, are holding a logo-design contest, with a prize of $100.

The race-planning committee is sponsoring a contest to help in the design of race t-shirts and posters. The event includes the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Marathon, the St. Lawrence County Dunkin' Donuts Half-Marathon and the St. Lawrence University Wellness Initiative 5K; to be considered, all designs must include those specifically named races.

To enter the contest:

- Create a logo/picture that can be used on the front of race t-shirts and that can also act as a stand-alone race poster. Designs should reflect "the aura of 'place' surrounding the Canton area and St. Lawrence University."

- Designs should incorporate an Adirondack-style chair and/or information related to St. Lawrence University's Sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary, being celebrated throughout the 2005-2006 academic year. Information about the celebration is available on the University Web site.

- Send a completed, full-color design to Bill Burns, Counseling Services, St. Lawrence University, 23 Romoda Drive, Canton, NY 13617.

Entries must be received by Monday, February 20, 2006.,br>

The designer of the winning entry will receive $100 and a free registration for one of the three races to be held on May 6. The winning design will be used for the race t-shirt and poster, and the winning designer will receive credit on the shirt, poster and in printed material relating to the race.
