CANTON-SLU MARATHON GROUP HOLDS LOGO CONTEST

CANTON – The organizers of the May 1 marathon, half-marathon and 5K race sponsored 
by St. Lawrence University and community members are holding a logo-design contest, 
with a prize of $100.
      The race-planning committee is sponsoring a design contest to help in the 
design of race t-shirts and posters. If appropriate, the winning design may also 
be used on race-finisher medals.
      An official name for the race has not yet been selected. Therefore, those 
submitting designs are asked to use "The Inaugural Canton-St. Lawrence University 
Marathon" as a working name for the race. While all design submissions will be 
considered, a preference will be given to those designs that incorporate a graphic 
of an Adirondack-style chair; the graphic may be obtained from the committee.
	To enter the contest:
      - Create a logo/picture that can be used on the front of race t-shirts and 
that can also act as a stand-alone race poster. Designs should reflect "the aura 
of 'place'  surrounding the Canton area and St. Lawrence University" and include 
the Adirondack-style chair graphic.
      - Send a completed, full-color design to Bill Burns, Counseling Services, 
St. Lawrence University, 23 Romoda Drive, Canton, NY 13617.
	Entries must be received by Friday, February 27, 2004.
	The designer of the winning entry will receive $100 and a free registration 
for one of the three races to be held on May 1. The winning design will be used 
for the race t-shirt and poster, and the winning designer will receive credit on 
the shirt, poster and in printed material relating to the race.
