PERFORMANCE OF 'MAHALIA' SLATED AT ST. LAWRENCE

CANTON -- Mahalia, a musical celebrating the life and music 
of gospel-music great Mahalia Jackson, will be performed at 
St. Lawrence University on Monday, January 31, at 8 p.m. in 
Gulick Theatre. The event is open to the public, free of charge.
	Packed with 22 musical numbers, Mahalia traces the 
life and career of the world's best loved gospel singer from 
her birth as a grandchild of plantation slaves up through her 
rise to wealth and international fame as she performed for 
royalty and presidents, and fought alongside Dr. Martin Luther 
King in the Civil Rights movement.
	The musical is directed by Tom Stolz and directed by 
Joy Vandervort-Cobb.
