SOUTHERN WOMEN'S WRITING TOPIC OF SLU TALK

CANTON - Lucinda MacKethan, an author from the National Humanities 
Center at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, will give a 
talk at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, March 9, at 8 p.m. in 
Herring-Cole. The event is open to the public, free of charge.
	MacKethan's talk is titled "Huck Finn's Mother: Reading Women 
In(to) Southern Literature."
	An expert on Southern women's writing, MacKethan is the 
author of The Dream of Arcady: Time and Place in Southern Literature 
and Daughters of Time: Creating Woman's Voice in Southern Story and 
the editor of Recollections of a Southern Daughter: A Memoir by 
Cornelia Jones Pond of Liberty County. She also contributed photographs 
to the book Swallow Barn; Or, a Sojourn in the Old Dominion, by John 
Pendelton Kennedy.
