CONTEST UNDER WAY FOR CANTON-SLU RACE WEEKEND LOGO DESIGN

CANTON – The organizers of the Second Annual Canton-St. Lawrence University 
Race Weekend, which includes the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Marathon, half-marathon 
and 5K race on April 30, 2005, are holding a logo-design contest, with a prize 
of $100.
	The planning committee is sponsoring a design contest to help in the 
design of race t-shirts and posters. While all design submissions will be 
considered, a preference will be given to those designs that incorporate a 
graphic of an Adirondack-style chair, which may be obtained from the committee, 
and those that incorporate the celebration of Canton's bicentennial. The 
committee is especially interested in designs that reflect "the aura of 'place' 
surrounding the Canton area and St. Lawrence University."
	To enter the contest:
	- Create a logo/picture that can be used on the front of race t-shirts 
and that can also act as a stand-alone race poster. Designs should include an 
Adirondack chair and/or information related to Canton's bicentennial celebration 
(to be held throughout 2005).  Information about the bicentennial celebration 
can be found at www.cantoncondev.com/history/index.htm.
	- Include Canton-St. Lawrence University Race Weekend and Canton-Potsdam 
Hospital Marathon in the design.
	- Send a completed, full-color design to Bill Burns, Counseling Services, 
St. Lawrence University, 23 Romoda Drive, Canton, NY 13617.
	Entries must be received by Monday, January 31, 2005.
	The designer of the winning entry will receive $100 and a free registration 
for one of the three races to be held on April 30. The winning design will be used 
for the race t-shirt and poster, and the winning designer will receive credit on 
the shirt, poster and in printed material relating to the race.
