CANTON -- The work of two local area artists will be exhibited in
St. Lawrence University's Richard F. Brush Art Gallery. "The Sublime
and the Ridiculous," sculptures by Max Coots of Canton, and "He
Quilts," quilts by Lance Myler of Potsdam, will be exhibited in the
gallery from September 22 through October 13.
	Coots will offer remarks on his work on Wednesday, September
22, at 7 p.m. in Griffiths 123, followed by a reception in the gallery;
he will also lead a discussion on Monday, October 4, at 4:30 p.m. in
the gallery. Myler will lead a discussion on his work on Thursday,
September 23, at 7 p.m. in the gallery, with a reception to follow.
	Minister of the Canton Unitarian Universalist Church from 1958
to 1992, Coots has been a sculpture student since his retirement. This
exhibition of his work was organized by Professor of Fine Arts Roger
Bailey, with funding support from the Jeanne Scribner Cashin Endowment
for Fine Arts.
	Myler teaches biology and chemistry at SUNY Canton and creates
quilts as a hobby, incorporating hand-sewing and machine techniques, plus
