Local Newspaper Highlights SLU's UNITY Project
The Watertown Daily Times reported on St. Lawrence University's UNITY project, which kicked off during an opening ceremony on Sept. 30.
Arranged in a circle on Creasy Commons are 32 numbered poles with one pole in the center. Each pole has identifiers attached to them that students, faculty, staff and community members can string together their individual identity. The strings become more and more intertwined in order to visually symbolize the interconnectedness between us while celebrating our uniqueness.
The endeavor stemmed from a national program called the UNITY project, which began earlier this year in Alexandria, Virginia. The project will be staffed at various times until the closing ceremony at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
