PATRICE LECLERC VOTED TOP PROF BY SLU STUDENTS

CANTON -- St. Lawrence University Assistant Professor of Sociology 
Patrice LeClerc has been voted by the Class of 2001 as the Owen 
D. Young Outstanding Faculty Member. The award is the only faculty 
award chosen by students.
	LeClerc joined the St. Lawrence faculty in 1996. She is a 
graduate of Duke University, where she also earned a master's degree 
and the Ph.D. A specialist in comparative historical sociology, she 
has recently been researching and writing the social history of 
northern New York and southern Ontario in the 1800s, focusing on a 
prominent family in New York's Monroe County, and researching changing 
constitutional politics in Canada, especially as they affect women. 
LeClerc teaches medical sociology, sociology of sex and gender, social 
problems and comparative historical methods, and she has taught in the 
University's First-Year Program.
