CANTON – St. Lawrence University Professor of Public Law and
Government Bernard J. Lammers has been voted by the Class of 2005 as
the Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Member. The award is the only

Lammers will deliver a "last lecture" to members of the class during
the week prior to Commencement. He is retiring from the faculty this
year, after 39 years of service to St. Lawrence.
A graduate of Georgetown University, where he also earned his
master's degree, Lammers holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and a
law degree from the University of Chicago. He is the pre-law careers
advisor, and his teaching fields include American political institutions,
law and courts, Constitutional law, environmental law and politics,
Congress and the legislative process, and the U.S. presidency. Lammers'
recent publications include Legislative Process and Drafting in U.S. Law
Schools and Fragmented Government. In 1983, he was given the J. Calvin
Keene Award, established to recognize faculty members with "high standards
of personal scholarship, effective teaching and moral concern."
