PRESENTATION ON DATE-RAPE SLATED AT SLU

CANTON - Katie Koestner, an outspoken survivor of date-rape
and a sexual assault prevention advocate, will give a talk
called "No/Yes" on Wednesday, February 20, at 8 p.m. in Gulick
Theatre at St. Lawrence University. The event is open to the
public, free of charge; her talk will be followed by a
question-and-answer session.
In 1993, Koestner completed a project for HBO's "Lifestories"
docu-drama series, titled "No Visible Bruises: The Katie Koestner
Story," and detailing her 1990 assault. She has discussed the
incident, which occurred while she was a student at the College
of William and Mary, on a number of television and radio programs
and with numerous newspapers and magazines. Koester's advocacy
led Congress, and later President George H.W. Bush, to pass the
Campus Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights into law, in 1992.
She has written for a number of educational books about campus
safety issues.
