Kappa Kappa Gamma Helps Community - Members of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at St. Lawrence University held a fund-raiser in the spring to benefit the Church and Community Program in Canton. Pictured are, from left, Annie Massie '09, of Wayzata, MN; Shari Wilcox director of the Canton Church and Community Program and Salvation Army representative; and Stephanie Resavage '09, of Rochester, NY.
In April, Kappa Kappa Gamma held its first annual Casino Night on campus, co-sponsored by the Foundation for Community Betterment, a philanthropic organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. The event, held at the St. Lawrence University Student Center, was a success, with proceeds over $1,000.
The sisters' gift to the Church and Community program will help provide winter jackets and footwear for approximately 250 to 300 low-income children in the Canton area whose families are struggling economically. Resavage, who organized the event after participating in an internship with the Foundation, said, "With the frigid winters of the North Country a harsh reality, Kappa is very proud to help warm up the children of Canton and provide necessities that they might not receive otherwise."
