SLU Vice President For Libraries And Information Technology Joins EDUCAUSE Board
CANTON - St. Lawrence University Vice President for Libraries and Information Technology Justin Sipher is one of three new members of the Board of Directors of EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit association of information technology leaders and professionals committed to advancing higher education. He will serve a four-year term on the board, beginning in November of 2012.
"I'm delighted to welcome Justin to the board," said EDUCAUSE President Diana Oblinger. "The board provides critical leadership for the association and an essential link to our membership, and I know we will benefit from the knowledge, insight, and experiences of these new board members. Each has an outstanding record of service that will inform EDUCAUSE as we work together to advance higher education through the use of information technology."
Sipher began his duties at St. Lawrence in August. From 2005 to August 2012, he served as the chief technology officer at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at the State University of New York College at Potsdam in a variety of IT positions. Sipher serves on the board of directors for NYSERNet.org and as a member of the Microsoft Higher Education Advisory Group, and recently served as the faculty director of the EDUCAUSE Management Institute. He holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from SUNY Potsdam and is a 2001 Frye Leadership Institute Fellow.
