Poet Joanie Mackowski In St. Lawrence University Writers Series
CANTON - Poet Joanie Mackowski will speak and read from recent works in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, March 22, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the University Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
Mackowski is the author of View From a Temporary Window (University of Pittsburgh Press 2010) and The Zoo (University of Pittsburgh Press 2002). Winner of the Emily Dickinson Prize from the Poetry Society of America, as well as numerous other awards, she holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University, was a Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University and earned the Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. Mackowski's poems have been published in a variety of journals and her third collection of poems, in progress, explores lyric poetry from an ecocritical vantage point.
