DOCUMENTARY FILM TO BE SCREENED AT SLU

CANTON - The documentary film Mumia Abu-Jamal: A Case for Reasonable Doubt?
will be shown at St. Lawrence University on Sunday, February 21, at 7 p.m.
in the Hepburn Hall auditorium. An informal discussion will follow the
screening, which is open to the public free of charge.
The documentary was produced in 1996 for HBO's "America Undercover" series,
but the version to be screened includes additional footage and interviews
not included in the cable special. In the film, convicted cop killer Mumia
Abu-Jamal and his case - along with the case's inconsistencies - are examined
in detail. Since his incarceration in 1981, Abu-Jamal has become an author
and NPR journalist, never offering an explanation of the events leading to
his conviction, only insisting on his innocence.
