National Book Award-Winner Jaimy Gordon Kicks Off SLU Writers Series In 2012
CANTON - Author Jaimy Gordon, National Book Award winner for her 2011 novel Lord of Misrule, will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, February 2, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event is the first in the University's Writers Series for the spring semester and is open to the public, free of charge.
Lord of Misrule, Gordon's fourth novel, was also a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award. Her third novel, Bogeywoman, was a Los Angeles Times Best Book for 2000. She has translated several works of Maria Beig from German, and her short story "A Night's Work" appeared in Best American Short Stories 1995.
Gordon teaches at Western Michigan University. She has been a Fellow of the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center and the Bunting Institute of Radcliffe College.
