PEST MANAGEMENT TRAINING CONFERENCE TO BE HELD AT SLU

CANTON - A training conference for groundskeepers on integrated 
pest management, called "Moving Towards Zero Chemical Use," will be 
held at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, April 15. It is sponsored 
by the University's environmental studies program and Cornell 
University's Cooperative Extension.
	Sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Common 
Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The public is welcome to attend individual 
sessions of interest, free of charge.
	The event will provide training in integrated pest management, 
featuring principles and methods aimed at lessening reliance on pesticides 
for maintenance of grounds, turf, trees, shrubs and plantings. Opening 
remarks will be presented by Al Schwartz, director of the environmental 
studies program at St. Lawrence, and Steve VanderMark, an educator with 
Cornell Cooperative Extension.
