Hockey Analytics Conference Gets Canadian News Coverage

St. Lawrence University, in conjunction with Carleton University’s School of Mathematics and Statistics, hosted the third-annual Ottawa Hockey Analytics Conference (#OTTHAC17) at Carleton University on May 6.

Michael Schuckers, Rutherford professor of statistics, was a speaker at the conference.

Jeremy Sylvain '18 won the undergraduate portion of the student paper competition for a paper, titled "The Probability and Severity of Man Games Lost Due to Injury in an NHL Season."  His paper will appear in the 2017 Hockey Abstract. John Tank '17 was a finalist for the same competition with his paper, titled "The Effect of Rinks on Shot Rates in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League)." He presented a poster at the conference.
