LATINO/A AND HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATED AT SLU

CANTON – A variety of presentations, performances and events will take place 
at St. Lawrence University this fall in celebration of Latino/a and Hispanic 
heritage.
	Among the events at St. Lawrence:
	- Photography exhibition Lejos de Dios/Far From God, by Leah 
Krieger '03, in the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery through October 11.
	- Documentary film The Battle of Chile: The Struggle of an Unarmed 
People, 1975-6, Monday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Hepburn Auditorium 
(Room 218), followed by a discussion.
	- Documentary film Chile, Obstinate Memory, Tuesday, September 23, at 
7:30 p.m. in Hepburn Auditorium, followed by a discussion.
	- Presentation of new videos produced by the Chiapas Media Project, a 
group of indigenous video-makers from the states of Chiapas and Guerrero, 
Mexico, Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. in Hepburn Auditorium.
	- A film series reflecting on 40 years of the Cuban revolution – Lucía, 
Thursday, October 2, 7 p.m.; Memories of Underdevelopment, Tuesday, October 7, 
7:30 p.m.; Strawberry and Chocolate, Thursday, October 9, 7:30 p.m., all in 
Hepburn Auditorium.
	- Performance by the Andean musical performance group Inca Son, Tuesday, 
October 14, 8 p.m., in Gulick Theatre. A lecture on Andean music and culture will 
be presented by Inca Son leader Cesar Villalobos on Monday, October 13, at 4 p.m. 
in the Griffiths Arts Center, and an interactive workshop on making instruments 
and making music will be presented on Tuesday, October 14, at 4 p.m. in Griffiths 
Arts Center.
	- Multimedia presentation on "Economic Rubble and Grass-Roots Rebellion" 
by representatives of the Autonomous Unemployed Workers Movement in Argentina, 
on Wednesday, October 22, at 8 p.m. in Hepburn Auditorium.
	- "Tres Vidas," a musical theatre performance based on the lives of Mexican 
painter Frida Kahlo, Argentinan poet Alfonsina Storni and Salvadoran activist 
Rufina Amaya, on Thursday, October 30, at 8 p.m. in Gulick Theatre.
