HILL WILL COORDINATE SLU NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAM

CANTON -- Randall T. Hill, associate professor of speech and theatre 
at St. Lawrence University, has been named coordinator of the University's 
Native American studies program, succeeding Emeritus Associate Professor 
of Modern Languages and Literatures Peter van Lent.
	Hill is a member of the Lumbee Native American nation and 
participated in drafting the proposal for the minor in Native American 
studies, approved at the University in 1998. He has been active in the 
program since its inception.
	As coordinator of the program, he will serve on the Native American 
Affairs Committee, oversee the budget for Native American studies and 
activities and assist in recruiting Native students.
	Hill earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University 
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Ph.D. from Louisiana State 
University. He joined the St. Lawrence faculty in 1991.
