St. Lawrence University Hosts Higher Ed Night October 2

CANTON - Nearly 100 colleges, universities and institutions will be represented at Higher Education Night, to be held Tuesday, October 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Leithead Field House, Augsbury Physical Education Center, at St. Lawrence University.

The event is an opportunity for area high school students and their families to meet representatives from participating colleges, and gather information about the schools. In addition, members of the financial aid staff will hold information sessions every 30 minutes, providing details on the application process and the various types of financial aid available.

A panel of representatives from selective colleges will be held immediately before the college fair begins, starting promptly at 5:15 p.m. and concluding by 6 p.m., upstairs in Augsbury (there will be signs). The panel is intended for students in grades 9-11 and their parents, as well as counselors, and will focus on what students can do throughout high school to enhance their applications for admission to selective colleges. Panelists will comment on curricular choices, summer activities/jobs, school and community activities. Representatives from Skidmore, University of Buffalo and Hamilton will participate, as a service to students in the North Country.

Students from high schools throughout Northern New York and Canada are expected to attend. Institutions and organizations scheduled to participate include:
