SLU Concert Performance By 'Four Hands, Four Feet' Set

CANTON - St. Lawrence University musician-in-residence Sondra Goldsmith Proctor and guest artist Martin Kasparek will perform in a program titled "Four Hands, Four Feet: Organ Music from Central and Eastern Europe" on Saturday, April 10, at 8 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel at St. Lawrence University. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

An exhibition of four tiled paintings, created by students in Adjunct Assistant Professor of Fine Arts Lindy Strauss' Introduction to Studio Arts classes and based on the work of Nicholas Roerich, will be shown in conjunction with the performance.

Kasparek was born in the United Kingdom of Anglo-Czech parents. After earning degrees in music and music education, he taught music and was chapel organist at a school in England. He later moved to Switzerland, becoming director of music at the American Church in Geneva. In 1997, Kasparek was appointed to his present position, organist of the Collegiate Church of St-Imier, Switzerland.

Goldsmith Proctor, a well-known and respected organist and choral conductor in the eastern United States and especially in the Washington, DC, area, was, for nearly three decades, the director of music and arts and organist for Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ in Washington. She has played recitals in many venues in the eastern United States.
