SLU LIBRARY FRIENDS CELEBRATE PUBLICATION OF PROF. SALVI'S BOOK
Please note: This event, originally scheduled for Nov. 3, has been
rescheduled to Friday, December 1.
CANTON - The Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries will celebrate the 2005
publication of the book Escenas En Conflicto: El Teatro Español E Italiano Desde
Los Márgenes Del Barroco (Scenes in Conflict: The Spanish and Italian Theater
From The Margins of the Baroque) by Assistant Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures
Marcella Salvi with a reception on Friday, December 1, at 4 p.m. in the Josephine Young
Room of Owen D. Young Library. Salvi will speak at the event, which is open to the
public, free of charge.
The book examines the role of "marginal" characters - servants, prostitutes and
mercenary soldiers, for example - in the Baroque theater of both Spain and Italy.
Salvi has been a faculty member at St. Lawrence since 2002, teaching courses in
Spanish and Italian. She graduated from the Instituto Universitario Orientale di
Napoli in Italy, and earned a master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.
