FALL FITNESS CLASSES AT SLU OPEN TO COMMUNITY

CANTON – A variety of fitness classes are offered at St. Lawrence University, and 
are open to the community as well as to students, faculty and staff. Participants 
do not need to be members of the University's Stafford Fitness Center to enroll 
in fitness classes.
	There is a $10 registration fee per semester for fitness center members, 
faculty/staff and St. Lawrence retirees; there is a $5 registration fee per semester 
for current St. Lawrence students. Community residents who are not paying members of 
the fitness center must pay class fees, which vary and are specified.
	A six-week schedule of classes begins Monday, October 18, and runs through 
November 28, except Pilates, which begins November 2 and ends December 14. 
Registration is complete when payment is received. To register, get class descriptions 
or to get details on registering – including policies regarding late registration, 
refunds and withdrawals – call the fitness center at 315-229-5368 or go to the 
office downstairs in Newell Field House, 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. and 1 to 4:15 p.m., 
Monday through Friday. More information is also available on the fitness center

	Class schedules and fees are as follows:
	- Lunch-time Power Walks – Instructor, Lisa Francey, certified aerobics 
instructor and chiropractor; Mondays, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., meet at Newell Field 
House front desk; fee $10 per person. 
	- Pilates – Instructor, Lisa Francey, certified aerobics instructor and 
chiropractor; Wednesdays, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $40 
all participants.
	- Cardio Kickboxing – Instructor, Alicia McNally, certified kickboxing 
instructor; Tuesday/Thursday, 7 to 8 a.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $48 for 
community (non-members), registration fee for University faculty/staff/students.
	- Indoor Cycling – Instructor, Sarah Pensgen; Monday/Wednesday, 4 to 5 p.m.; 
Newell multi-purpose room; fee $36 for community (non-members), registration fee for 
University faculty/staff/students.
	- Progressive Dance – Instructor, Margaret Mauch (for beginners/intermediates); 
Tuesdays, 7 to 9 p.m., Newell multi-purpose room; fee $25 per person.
	- Circuit Training – Instructor, Robin Durocher; Tuesday/Thursday, 12:10 to 
12:50 p.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $48 for community (non-members), registration 
fee for University faculty/staff.
	- Strength and Toning – Instructor, Teresa Brownell, certified aerobics 
instructor; Tuesday/Thursday, 8 to 9 a.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $36 per 
person. A minimum of five persons must be registered in order for the class to be 
held.
	- Kendo – Instructor John Maissonneuve, certified Kendo instructor; Sundays 
2:30 to 4 p.m./Wednesdays 7:30 to 9 p.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $40 
member/student and $45 non-member for two days per week; $25 member/student and $30 
non-member for one day per week.
	- American Kang Duk Won and Self-Defense – Instructor, Frank Palumbo; Mondays, 
6 to 7:30 p.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $50 all participants for eight weeks.
	- Indoor Cycling – Instructor, Teresa Brownell; Monday/Wednesday, noon to 12:50 
p.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $36 per person. A minimum of five persons must 
be registered in order for the class to be held.
	- Body Boot Camp – Instructor, Shawn-Eric Brooks, certified personal trainer; 
Class One, Monday-Wednesday-Friday, 7 to 8 a.m.; Class Two, Tuesday-Thursday, 6:30 to 
7:30 a.m.; Newell multi-purpose room; fee $36 Class One non-members, $54 Class Two 
non-members and registration fee only for University faculty/staff/students.
	- Capoeira – Instructor Relani Prudhomme; Tuesdays 6 to 7 p.m. and Fridays 4 
to 6 p.m. (may stay for one-hour segment only if preferred); Newell multi-purpose room; 
fee $40 all participants.
