SLU PRESIDENT TO THROW FIRST PITCH AT MAJOR-LEAGUE GAME
CANTON – St. Lawrence University President Daniel F. Sullivan, a member of
the baseball team while a student at St. Lawrence, will throw out the
ceremonial "first pitch" at Jacobs Field in Cleveland on Sunday, July 27,
prior to the Cleveland Indians' game versus the Minnesota Twins.
The pitch will take place at 12:55 p.m., and is part of an event for
Cleveland-area Laurentians. Paul Dolan, an attorney and 1980 graduate of
St. Lawrence, is vice president and general counsel for the Indians, and
host of the day's festivities. The Dolan family owns the Cleveland Indians
franchise.
President Sullivan commented that he is looking forward to returning
to the diamond, stating good-naturedly, "Though an outfielder on the
St. Lawrence team, I often threw batting practice – because my teammates
found me so easy to hit!"
The Indians/Twins game will be televised by Fox Sports Net Minnesota.
