St. Lawrence Offers Talk On Dinosaur Ecology

CANTON - John Hoganson, North Dakota state paleontologist, will deliver the Susan Carolyn Ferguson Lecture in Geology at St. Lawrence University, "Dinosaur Ecology of the Hell Creak Formation in North Dakota." The talk, open to the public free of charge, will be on Tuesday, November 17, at 8 p.m. in Bloomer Auditorium (Room 122) of Brown Hall. It is suitable for all ages.

Hoganson is responsible for curation of the famous "mummified" dinosaur called "Dakota," subject of the National Geographic special "Dino Autopsy." The Hell Creek Formation is Latest Cretaceous in age and contains fossils of life found just before the great extinction event that closed the reign of dinosaurs on Earth. Hoganson will speak about both plants and animals from that period of time, which is well preserved in North Dakota's badlands.
