St. Lawrence Sets Fees For 2009-2010
CANTON - The St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees has approved a 5 percent increase in the comprehensive fee for 2009-2010, the lowest percentage increase in seven years. The Board met on campus Saturday, February 28.
For academic year 2009-2010, tuition will be $39,520, with room and board set at $10,160. The comprehensive fee (tuition, room and board) is $47,320 for 2008-2009.
President Daniel F. Sullivan stated that the University will maintain, and in some cases, enhance, programs that define the educational experience for students. For example, a new program in Thailand will be introduced in fall 2009, as will a pilot program in New Zealand. New gifts will allow expansion of the University Fellows Program, which funds collaborative research by student-faculty teams, including creative work in the arts.
"St. Lawrence must continue its commitment to be at least as good for its students next year as it is this year and hopefully even better," Sullivan said. "Students and families make a four-year commitment to St. Lawrence, and so we must make a four-year commitment to them."
He also said that the University "will maintain a commitment to student financial aid, with our budget for St. Lawrence-funded grants and scholarships increasing by 8.2 percent."
Sullivan stated, "These are difficult times, to be sure, and they may get even more difficult. I believe we have found a good balance in our approach to dealing with our economic uncertainties - one that absolutely focuses first and foremost on the education of our students, our reason for being."
