SLU Hosting Nature Events At Field Station October 2

CANTON - A Fall Field Day will be held at St. Lawrence University's Wachtmeister Field Station on Friday, October 2, from 2 to 5 p.m., during Family Weekend.

The field station is located on County Route 27; follow Park Street south for 1.1 miles, just over the Park Street Bridge. Click here for a printable map and directions.

During the event, which is open to the public, students and faculty from the environmental sciences will highlight their work and demonstrate techniques aimed at getting participants to see the natural world in new ways. Activities include radiotelemetry demonstrations; a GPS geocaching scavenger hunt with prizes; mammal-study skins and specimen preparations; autumn leaf-sketching; lake bacteria viewing and presentation of student research posters.

At 3 p.m., there will be a guided bird walk, with binoculars provided.
