English Prof. Talks to NCPR About Trump-Trudeau Meeting

Robert Thacker, Dana professor of English and chair of Canadian studies, spoke to North Country Public Radio's Martha Foley about the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Thacker characterized this meeting as a chance for the two leaders to meet face-to-face, and “establish a respectful, professional relationship.” Looking at the two men, he said, most people see huge differences between them. But in some ways, he said, they’re similar: neither has a lot of experience in governing, and expectations going into their tenures were low.
