SLU Early Music Singers Perform Bach's Chorales In Concert

CANTON - The Early Music Singers at St. Lawrence University, with organist Sondra Goldsmith Proctor, will perform a concert of Bach's Chorales on Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel. It is open to the public, free of charge.

The program includes chorales, organ chorale preludes and the motet Jesu, meine Freude.

The 10 voices of the Early Music Singers, directed by Barry Torres, include St. Lawrence students and faculty, as well as community members. The Singers' repertoire centers on the great a cappella sacred music of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. They rehearse completely a cappella and historically appropriate vocal practices, including just intonation, are explored in the authentic-style acoustics of Gunnison Memorial Chapel on campus.
