SLU'S EARLY MUSIC SINGERS PRESENT MADRIGALS, 'CHANSONS'
CANTON - A program called "Love, Nature and Honor: Madrigals and Chansons" will be
performed by the Early Music Singers at St. Lawrence University, on Sunday,
April 22, at 2 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel. The event is open to the public,
free of charge.
The program includes a selection of madrigals from England and Italy, with two
French chansons, Josquin DesPrez's "Mille Regrets" and Clement
Jannequin's "Le Chant des Oiseaux" ("Bird Song").
The Early Music Singers, directed by Barry Torres, is a highly select vocal
ensemble of 16 to 20 singers that specializes in the great vocal music of the
medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Membership includes University
faculty, staff, students and community residents.
