HARRISVILLE NATIVE IS CHAIR-ELECT OF SLU BOARD OF TRUSTEES

CANTON - Donald K. Rose, of Palo Alto, California, has been elected vice chair of the St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees, and chair-elect for 2007-2008. He will become chair of the board upon the retirement of Larry Winston on June 30, 2008.

A native of Harrisville, New York, Rose graduated from St. Lawrence in 1964. He has been a trustee since 2004. Rose retired from Intel Corporation in 2001, as general manager. During the last 16 years of his career with Intel, when the company grew from being a start-up in the computer industry to the standard-bearer for processors, he was responsible for manufacturing engineering functions, including factory construction; manufacturing equipment design, procurement and installation; and factory automation systems.

Rose earned his St. Lawrence degree in physics, and the Ph.D. from Stanford University. He holds six patents and is credited with over 75 publications and presentations to technology, management, industry and government forums. Rose spent the spring 2004 semester at St. Lawrence as a visiting faculty member in physics and mathematics and he has established four summer fellowships at the University for undergraduate study in the sciences and mathematics.
