JOURNALIST MORTON DEAN TO SPEAK AT SLU

CANTON -- "Campaign 2000" is the theme of a talk by journalist 
Morton Dean, scheduled at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, 
September 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Gulick Theatre. The event, the 
O'Loughlin Leadership Endowment Series lecture, is open to the 
public, free of charge.

	Dean, an award-winning ABC News correspondent, has covered 
historic stories around the world for more than 30 years, including 
more than 20 as a correspondent and anchorman with CBS News. He has 
covered presidential campaigns, civil rights struggles, terrorist 
attacks, peacekeeping missions, summit meetings, papal visits, space 
missions and more.
	Honored for his coverage of the Vietnam War, Dean has also 
broadcast from the battlefields of Desert Storm, El Salvador and 
Grenada. He is also the author of the 1997 book Return To Glory 
Days, about the prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
	A graduate of Emerson College, Dean has received a number of 
honorary degrees, including one from his alma mater. He is the only 
recipient of an honorary degree from Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey 
Clown College, and he occasionally performs as a clown.
