Author David Shields At SLU For Writers Series
CANTON - Author David Shields will speak and read from recent work at an event at
St. Lawrence University on Thursday, April 2, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the St. Lawrence Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
Shields, who was formerly on the faculty at St. Lawrence, is the author of 10 books, including The Thing About Life Is That One Day You'll Be Dead; Reality Hunger: A Manifesto; Black Planet, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; Remote, winner of the PEN/Revson Award; and Dead Languages, winner of the PEN Syndicated Fiction Award. A senior editor of Conjunctions, Shields has published essays and stories in The New York Times Magazine, Harper's, Village Voice, Yale Review, Salon and Slate. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
