NEW DINING HALL FACILITY OPENS AT ST. LAWRENCE

CANTON - The lunch crowd gathers in cozy booths or at attractive
wooden tables, after making selections from a menu that includes
Asian food, deli items, pasta, pizza, organic produce and burgers.
While making those selections, diners can watch as their food is
prepared.
It's not the latest restaurant to open in a metropolitan
area - it's the renovated Dana Dining Hall at St. Lawrence University,
which opened March 22 to rave reviews from students, faculty and
staff alike.
The renovations included not only the interior - which now
features a "food court"-like service area, air conditioning and an
open kitchen area - but also the exterior, which features a new stonework
entrance facing the center of the campus.
A goal of the facility, according to Dining Services Director
Cynthia Atkins, was to make the space "user-friendly." The new facility
encourages comfort and social interaction, as well as increased choice
for diners. Students may still use the on-campus snack bar and convenience
store for meal choices, but the Eben Holden Dining Hall - which had been
the main campus dining facility - will now be reserved for special events.
The renovation of Dana Dining Hall is part of St. Lawrence's
10-year Campus Master Plan, which will guide investment in campus buildings,
grounds and facilities over the period.
