SLU PROFESSOR WRITES TEXT CHAPTER ON MEMORY

CANTON - St. Lawrence University Professor of Psychology Thomas
F. Cunningham is the co-author of a textbook chapter on human memory.
Cunningham and Alice F. Healy, professor of psychology at
the University of Colorado in Boulder, co-wrote a chapter entitled
"Recall of Order Information" in the text On Human Memory: Evolution,
Progress and Reflections on the 30th Anniversary of the Atkinson-Shiffrin
Model, recently published by Lawrence Erlbaum Publications.
The chapter reports the results and theoretical implications of
research Cunningham and Healy conducted over the past 15 years on the human
ability to remember information about item order over relatively brief
time intervals.
Cunningham also presented a paper based on this work as part of
a symposium entitled "Human Memory: Honoring the Atkinson-Shiffrin Model
30 Years Later," conducted during the March meeting of the Southeastern
Psychological Association in Savannah, Georgia.
A member of the St. Lawrence faculty since 1969, Cunningham is a
graduate of St. Peter's College, with a master's degree and Ph.D. from
Oklahoma State University.
