A List 9/22/03 SLU BENEFACTORS CELEBRATE SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN CANTON – Over 250 of the leading benefactors to Campaign St. Lawrence will visit campus to celebrate the successful completion of the University's fund-raising initiative, to witness some of the projects that have been made possible by their gifts. The Campaign St. Lawrence celebration will take place on campus October 3 through 5. Planned events include tours of new facilities, academic seminars, discussion of issues in higher education and events that provide opportunities for participants to meet and talk with faculty and students. University President Daniel F. Sullivan announced on January 20, 2003, that Campaign St. Lawrence – which had a goal of raising $130 million – was successfully completed with $132,175,669 in gifts received and pledges made, payable by the end of 2005. "It is due to the generosity of many that we have reached our goal," President Sullivan said. "With a master plan of academic, co-curricular and facilities initiatives to guide our conversations with prospective donors, we explained our needs, and literally thousands of donors responded with historic generosity." Among the initiatives supported by Campaign St. Lawrence are the endowment of six professorships; renovations to Owen D. Young Library and the Launders Science Library and Computing Center; establishment of programs such as University Fellowships for student/faculty summer research, the Integrated Science Education Initiative (ISEI) and the global studies major; renovation and construction of residential and athletic facilities; and scholarship assistance for students.Back To News Releases Back to St. Lawrence Homepage Note: Campaign guests will participate in several forums on issues in higher education.
