A List 5/4/05 SLU CREW TEAM DEDICATES NEW SHELLS WADDINGTON -- Two new shells for use by the men's and women's crew teams were dedicated recently, at the University's boathouse in Waddington, NY, on the St. Lawrence River. In the first photo, above left, team captains Freddy Yust '05, of Scottsville, NY, and Doug Smith '05, of Brookfield, CT, prepare to pop the corks on champagne, in order to christen the shells. In the background are, from left, Head Crew Coach Nick Hughes, Athletic Director Margie Strait and Vice President of the University and Dean of Academic Affairs Grant Cornwell '79. In the center photo, Yust and Smith officially christen the shells "The Shark" and "The Kingfisher." In the photo at right, the women's team carries one of the new shells on its way to the river for its maiden voyage. Purchase of the shells was made possible by gifts from anonymous donors in the Class of 1977 and the Class of 1979.
