SLU STAFFER TO GIVE PRESENTATION ON SPORT CLIMBING
CANTON - St. Lawrence University Outdoor Program Associate Director Sarah Councell will
give a slide presentation and talk on her experiences climbing in Colorado and
Wyoming on Wednesday, October 19, at 7 p.m. in Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center.
The event is open to the public, free of charge.
Included are Councell's experiences sport climbing at Shelf Road, Colorado; the wide
cracks of Vedauwoo, Wyoming; alpine training at Lumpy Ridge and Rocky Mountain
National Park, Colorado; and high-alpine climbing in the Wind River Range, Wyoming.
A graduate of Boston College, Councell taught in the city of Eugene, Oregon's outdoor
program and the National Outdoor Leadership School prior to joining the staff at
St. Lawrence. She has climbed in Mexico, Canada, Bolivia and Kenya, and extensively in
the U.S. Councell teaches outdoor leadership courses; outdoor and indoor climbing;
mountaineering and ice climbing; and manages the Munro Family Climbing Wall in the
Newell Field House.
