CONVOCATION, MATRICULATION CEREMONY SET AT ST. LAWRENCE

CANTON -- A matriculation ceremony and Convocation will be 
held at St. Lawrence University, to formally begin the academic year.
	The event will be on Monday, August 23, at 2:30 p.m. 
on the Owen D. Young Library Quadrangle, weather permitting. 
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in 
Leithead Field House.
	The Class of 2003, which numbers about 580 students, 
will be formally welcomed into college life during the matriculation 
ceremony, by Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Terry Cowdrey and 
Vice President of the University and Dean of Academic Affairs Thomas 
B. Coburn. Recognition will be given to Thomas C. Greene, for his 
promotion to professor of psychology, and to seniors newly elected 
to Phi Beta Kappa. In addition, the winners of the J. Calvin Keene 
Award, the Louis and Frances Maslow Award and the John P. "Jack" 
Taylor Award will be announced.
	Orientation for new students is August 23 through 25; classes 
begin for the fall semester on Thursday, August 26.
