A List 3/3/03 'COLLEGE 101' EVENT TO BE HELD MARCH 10 CANTON - Several hundred high school juniors from around the North Country will attend the seventh annual "College 101 Experience" at SUNY Potsdam's Barrington Student Union on Monday, March 10. The event is sponsored by St. Lawrence University, Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton. The program was developed to make North Country and Canadian students more aware of higher education opportunities available in northern New York, and in Ontario and Quebec. High schools from Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties have been invited to bring students to the event. Universities and colleges expected to participate include St. Lawrence, Clarkson, SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Canton, North Country Community College, Paul Smith's College, Jefferson Community College, The Clarkson School, SUNY Ranger School, SUNY Plattsburgh, St. Lawrence College (Brockville, Ontario), Clinton Community College, Algonquin College, Queen's University and Air Force ROTC, based at Clarkson. College 101 activities include: - Staffed booths from each college, where students may obtain information and admissions materials - A panel of current students representing the participating schools, answering questions about going to college "in your own back yard" - Representatives from student clubs and organizations at St. Lawrence, Clarkson, SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton - A workshop on the application selection process, directed by college admissions counselors and high school guidance counselors - An athletics booth, staffed by students and representatives from the participating institutions For more information about the College 101 Experience, contact SUNY Potsdam's Kristin Jordan, at 315-267-2180 or jordankl@potsdam.edu.
