SLU STUDENTS PRESENT COLLABORATIVE MULTIMEDIA WORKS

CANTON – Students in the St. Lawrence University course "Collaboration
Across the Arts" will present and perform the collaborative multimedia
works developed this semester on Thursday, December 11, at 8 p.m. in Gilbert
Recital Hall, Griffiths Arts Center. The event is open to the public, free
of charge.
	Offered jointly by the departments of music, speech and theatre and
fine arts, "Collaboration Across the Arts" is a new course that provides
students from different backgrounds the opportunity to work together on
creative projects of their own design. Because of this, the direction of
the course is determined to a great extent by the unique combination of
students who participate. This semester's students have been working primarily
on projects that combine image and sound. All of the projects incorporate
extensive use of digital video and audio technologies, and some projects
also contain elements of live performance.
      The students have chosen a variety of themes for their projects,
including the adverse effects of drinking behaviors on a college campus;
the culture of fear in which we currently live; and the dichotomy of
reality/fantasy in the human consciousness. The presenters include Michael
J. Cozza '05, Rye, NY; Jordan K. Fernandes '04, Canton;  Chinasa N.
Izeogu '05, Fayetteville, GA; D. Michael Lucas '04, Spring Valley, NY;
Gregory S. Matejcik '04, Edwards; Matthew B. McClain '04, Cross River, NY;
Mark I. McIntire '05, Longwood, FL; Grace E. Potter '06, Waitsfield, VT;
Nicholas J. Rodham '06, Latham, NY; Elizabeth M. Teczar '04, Webster
Groves, MO; and Joshua T. Titus '04, Crown Point, NY.
