CELEBRATION OF EDUCATION PROF'S BOOK PLANNED AT SLU

CANTON - The Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders
Libraries at St. Lawrence University will hold a reception
to honor Professor of Education and Coordinator of the
Counseling and Development Program Arthur J. Clark on
the publication of his book, Early Recollections: Theory
and Practice in Counseling and Psychotherapy. The event
will be on Friday, March 7, at 4 p.m. in the Josephine
Young Room of Owen D. Young Library. It is open to the
public, free of charge, and Clark will speak about his
book prior to the reception.
	Clark's book, published in 2002 by Brunner-Routledge,
"reviews the extensive literature on early recollections
and organizes various interpretive systems of evaluating
early memories." The publishers state that psychotherapy
practitioners "will find specific and detailed guidelines
for administering and interpreting early recollections
to help integrate these memories into counseling and
psychotherapy."
Clark is also the author of the 1998 book Defense
Mechanisms in the Counseling Process. He is a graduate
of Eastern Nazarene College, with a master's degree from
Boston College and the Ed.D. from Oklahoma State
University. A member of the St. Lawrence faculty since
1990, Clark was named Counselor of the Year by the
Northern Zone Counselors Association in 1999.
