ST. LAWRENCE WINS 'CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE' AWARD FOR FUND-RAISING

CANTON – St. Lawrence University has received a 2003 Circle of Excellence
Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for
its overall performance in fund-raising. This is the third time since 1997
that the University has received an award from CASE.
The Circle of Excellence Awards Program received more than 2,895
entries from 511 institutions. These entries were judged in 43 categories
that covered institutional advancement programs and communications, and 294
awards were made to 165 member institutions. The Circle of Excellence Awards
Program is open to all CASE member institutions. Fifty-one panels involving
more than 200 volunteers, consisting of professional and CASE member experts,
judged the 2003 competition.
The awards for fund-raising honor exemplary development operations at
member institutions. In this specific category, 25 institutions received awards,
out of 287 colleges and universities considered.
University Vice President for Advancement Michael P. Archibald said,
"St. Lawrence was one of the relatively few educational institutions that
increased total gift income in 2001-2002. We also successfully concluded the
unprecedented Campaign St. Lawrence in 2002. We take pride in the recognition
of our advancement operation, this time not for a single program, but in
recognition of overall quality and performance."
CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals
at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, and development.
Its membership includes more than 3,000 colleges, universities and independent
elementary and secondary schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico and
42 other countries.
