CIOMPI QUARTET SETS SPRING CONCERT AT SLU

CANTON -- The Ciompi Quartet will present a concert at St. Lawrence 
University on Friday, March 29, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of 
Sykes Residence Hall. The event is open to the public, free of 
charge.
       	Praised by audiences and critics worldwide, the Ciompi 
Quartet has earned a place among the nation's leading string quartets. 
At Duke University, its home base in Durham, North Carolina, 
perennial capacity crowds attest to the depth and staying power of 
the group's appeal, and its importance to the region's cultural life. 
The Quartet has performed across the U.S. and in Europe, Israel, 
South America, Australia and China. 
       	The concert will include selections by Mozart, Haydn and 
Dvorak. Members of the Quartet are Eric Pritchard, violin; Hsiao-mei 
Ku, violin; Jonathan Bagg, viola; and Fred Raimi, cello; they will 
be assisted for this performance by Allan Ware, on clarinet. 
	The concert at St. Lawrence is supported by the Birdsong 
Endowment for Music. The quartet will also be in residence at the 
University for several days, giving presentations in classes and 
working with students.
